It’s easy as long as you know where to click!
Compare to Photoshop CS2 it’s the same but not at the same place…
First create all your slices [press K in Photoshop]. Then:
My “online book” have now a new chapter about the media that supports web marketing.
Here are the different part from this chapter:

*** Update : For people having the CD installation, not the CS3 trials only, this post should be more useful: How to install CS3 Suite in 4 steps on Vista. ***
Yesterday I tried to install some of the CS3 trials and could only get the installation to return a : installation could not be completed.
Well it’s so not friendly when you just have a « there was an error » message. There is surely a way to get the error code but I’m still discovering Vista (maybe someone can help me?).
After reading a lot of Forum and trying a lot of think I finally found a solution. In my case I’m on Vista Home Premium Edition.
The following worked:
1- Close antivirus and firewall.
2- Run the Adobe Extractor (the downloaded file) as an Administrator.
It will create a folder: Adobe CS3.
3- Go to this folder and select the folder program you want (DW9, FL9, …).
Again go to a folder called Adobe CS3 and run setup.exe as an Administrator, for me it worked! The most important in my case was to turn the Antivirus and Firewall off.
For me it worked for DreamweaverCS3, FlashCS3 and PhotoshopCS3 extended 😉
Btw I’m not sure if it had an influence or not but if it doesn’t work like this you may want to open the Command Prompt (as an Administrator) and type:
regsvr32 jscript.dll a dialog box will appears: “DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded”. Then try installing again.
I hope this will save time to someone 😉
I’ve been doing some server side interaction with Flash CS3 today and had notice that the cache wouldn’t clear automatically… Too bad for debugging. The solution is as old as Flash itself: just give a random number to the URL called (http://domain.com/test.php?1423) and Flash will reload the files completely.
My test of today was about loading some MP3 and I noticed another bug with the Flash Player 9: the MP3 are still playing too slow or too fast depending of the compression chosen for the MP3. One more time the solution is old enough to be known: your compression rate must be a multiple of 11025Hz to play correctly.
No I’m not talking about the torrent…
To evaluate Adobe’s creative software, we are offering fully functional 30-day trials of all Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 products and editions.
There are two ways to get a trial: by downloading a trial or by ordering a trial DVD set. When the trial expires, you must purchase the software to continue using it. Our new trial process enables you to evaluate a product and then convert the installed trial to an unrestricted version by purchasing it and entering a serial number.*

Nearly one month ago, I had my public presentation of my Licence. I promised you to put it online, now it’s done.
It was about structural web marketing or how using fundamentals structures from Internet and web-marketing methods to promulgate the popularity of a website for the distribution of a mobile application (FoxyTag).
I will, in a near futur put all online in my blog like I’ve done with the chapter “understanding fundamentals of search engines” but by now it’s only on a pdf.
Read it or download it now.
This might not been a big news for you, but for me it was the first time I came across this issue. Normally my job is more to put make a website the more visible possible but this time I was asked to remove some information that is not think to be public.
Okay, easy I’ll modify the robots.txt …
So the robots.txt is a file read by search engines to know what they are allow to display from a website.
The syntax is quite easy:
To allow spiders unlimited access to your entire site:
To block search engines to the entire Web site:
Notice the importance of detail: the single forward slash in the disallow command blocks the entire site from being indexed by the search engines. The forward slash covers the entire directory of files in that domain.
To disallow specific directories or files:
Extracted from thekarchergroup.
Now I could tell Google or other search engines to don’t index the files I wanted but I still had an issue: how can I tell search engines to remove those files from the cache?
For Google it’s only a question of some copy-paste. With Google Webmasters you can go to Diagnostic >> URL Removals. Then in one day or two your content will be removed from the cache and their index.
For other search engines it is not so easy, it’s seems that we have to wait until they remake index of the website before change take place.
Maybe in case of sensible information not well protected it’s easier to remove them completely from your server until the cache is refreshed, or use your .htaccess to make user unable to read the files.
Or is there another way to clear the cache of Yahoo and Live?
I finaly had the time to put online one chapter of my licence:
The Fundamentals of Search Engines.
It’s a very basic explaination of how a search engines works and how we can use the tools of those search engines to understand how they work. In this case it’s mostly about Google. I will slowly (I come from Switzerland — if you don’t get it don’t worry) put all my paper online. I hate the idea of having it lost in an univisted Universitar library 😉
I really hope it’s interesting.
Just a quick note, I’ve just found the Flash section of Wikivid, they have a lot of free video about Flash,
even some video about actionscript 3
See the Flash Section at Wikivid.
Also don’t miss the root of Wikivid if you are interested in learning a new software.
A quote from the welcome page :
Wikivid is an encyclopedia of informative videos. Each content page is made up of links to free videos laid out as a video-course for anyone to watch and learn. Each page can be edited and moderated by anyone.
The goal of each entry is to provide access to videos on the given subject for purposes of education. The vision for Wikivid is to eventually provide its own content through video uploads from the community, however, content may also be provided via links to free videos from around the web. Wikivid is currently in Alpha, and during this test stage, content will be limited to Software-related entries only.
Following my yesterday link to the Flash CS3 online documentation, here is the link to the Dreamweaver Online Documentation.
To access all the Dreamweaver documentation you can head to the Dreamweaver “help resources center“.
For me the most interesting is:
Spry 1.4 Developer Guide
Dreamweaver API Reference
I don’t know if this new is fresh or not but the Flash CS3 documentation is now online, you can find it at the Adobe Livedocs.
Currently the link is not on the Livedocs homepage.
The most interesting part are:
ActionScript 3.0 Language and Components Reference
Programming ActionScript 3.0
Using ActionScript 3.0 Components
Now I can just wish you a good reading 😉
